Terms of Service
Last updated: 4 October 2026
1. Who we are and what these terms cover
Every Crossing is provided by Centreline Ventures Ltd, a private limited company registered in the UK (company number 17432379), with its registered office at 128 City Road, London EC1V 2NX. These terms are the agreement between you and us when you use Every Crossing: the iPhone app, the web version of the app, this website and our waitlist. Please read them with our Privacy Policy. By creating an account or using the service you agree to them.
2. Using Every Crossing
- You must be at least 18.
- Give us accurate details when you sign up, and keep them up to date.
- Keep your password and your email account secure. You are responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us at once if you think someone else has accessed it.
- One person, one account. Do not share an account.
- Business use. You may use Every Crossing to keep your own records, including for your own business. If you want to use it to track other people, such as staff or clients, or to manage a team, please contact us first so we can agree suitable terms.
3. What the service does, and what it does not
Every Crossing is a record-keeping tool. It is not tax, legal or immigration advice. On iPhone, the app notices when your phone moves between countries, asks you to confirm each change, and counts the days against the limits you set. On iPhone and on the web you can also add and edit trips by hand, and export your records.
- It is not advice. Nothing in the app, the web version or our website is tax, legal, financial or immigration advice, and we are not your adviser.
- It does not decide your status. Whether you are resident, domiciled or allowed to stay anywhere depends on the law and on your own circumstances, and often on more than the number of days. The service counts days; it does not apply the full legal tests.
- Limits are yours. The day limits shown are ones you set, or starting figures we provide for convenience. They may not match your situation or the current law.
4. Accuracy of day counts
Your totals depend on several things we do not fully control: the location signal on your phone, whether location access is on, your confirmations, what you enter by hand, and the rules we have researched about how each country counts arrival and departure days. Please understand that:
- detection can be late, wrong or missed, for example in flight, with no signal, with the phone off, or near a border;
- the web version does not detect your location at all, so its totals include only what you have entered or what your iPhone has already recorded;
- rules differ by country and by purpose (such as tax or visa), change over time, and some places do not publish a clear rule. Where we could not find a reliable rule, the app counts both the arrival and the departure day;
- you should review your records regularly, correct mistakes, and check the official rules before relying on any figure.
We work to keep the rules and the detection accurate, but we cannot guarantee they are complete, current or error-free.
5. Location access and notifications
Automatic detection uses your iPhone's location services, including in the background. You control this in your phone's settings. Using location in the background can use extra battery. The app can also show alerts, for example when you are nearing a day limit or a new country is detected. These are optional and you can switch them off in your phone's settings. Please see our Privacy Policy for how location information is handled.
6. Your records
The travel records, notes and settings you put into the service remain yours. You give us permission to store and process them so we can run the service for you. You can export your records at any time, and you can delete your account in the app. When you ask to delete your account, it is scheduled for deletion after 14 days, and you can cancel during that time. After that your records are permanently deleted and cannot be recovered. We recommend you keep your own export as a backup of anything important.
7. Waitlist and emails
If you join our waitlist, you are asking us to email you a confirmation and then once when the app launches. Joining does not create an account. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any of those emails, which deletes your address. If you have an account, we will also send you emails that are needed to run it, such as sign-in codes and security notices. We will not send you marketing emails about the app without your agreement.
8. Acceptable use
Do not use Every Crossing to break the law, to enter false records in order to mislead a tax authority, immigration authority or anyone else, to attack or overload our systems, to try to access other people's accounts or data, to use automated tools to sign up or to collect data from the service, or to copy or reverse-engineer the app except where the law allows. You are responsible for the accuracy of anything you submit to an authority using information from the service.
9. Our rights in the service
We and our licensors own the app, the web version, the website, the country rules data we have compiled, the name Every Crossing and our logo. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the service for your own purposes while these terms apply. You may not sell, rent or copy it.
10. Price and payments
Every Crossing is currently free to use. We may introduce paid plans in future. If we do, we will tell you clearly beforehand, with the price and what is included, and we will not charge you without your agreement. Subscriptions bought in the app on iPhone are handled by Apple under Apple's terms.
11. Availability and changes
We aim to keep the service available, but it may sometimes be unavailable, for example for maintenance, or because of problems with our providers or your connection. We may change, add or remove features, and some features may be available on iPhone but not on the web. If we make a change that significantly reduces what you can do, we will give you reasonable notice where we can.
12. Suspending or ending your account
You can stop using Every Crossing and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, if we must by law, or to protect the service or other users. Where we reasonably can, we will tell you why and give you the chance to export your records first.
13. Our responsibility to you
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit. If you are a consumer, you also keep your legal rights, including that services must be provided with reasonable care and skill.
Subject to that: the service is provided "as is" as a record-keeping tool, and we do not promise that it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We are not responsible for losses that result from your reliance on a day count or a rule shown in the service, for example a tax charge, penalty, visa refusal or missed deadline, because the service does not give advice and you remain responsible for checking your position. We are also not liable for losses we could not reasonably have foreseen, or for lost profit, business or opportunity. Our total liability to you for anything connected with the service is limited to the greater of £100 and the amount you have paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
14. Apple
These terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple has no obligation to provide support or maintenance for the app and is not responsible for any claims about it, including product liability claims, claims that the app does not meet a legal requirement, and intellectual property claims. If the app fails to meet any applicable warranty, you may tell Apple, and Apple may refund the purchase price if there was one; to the extent the law allows, Apple has no other warranty obligation for it. You confirm that you are not located in a country under a US government embargo and are not on a US government list of restricted parties. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you. Apple's standard licensed application terms also apply to your use of the app from the App Store. If there is a conflict about the licence of the app itself, Apple's terms prevail.
15. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms, for example to reflect new features or changes in the law. If a change matters to you, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. If you keep using the service after the change, you accept the updated terms. If you do not agree, you can delete your account.
16. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales can deal with any dispute, although if you are a consumer living elsewhere in the UK you may also use your local courts, and you keep any mandatory consumer rights from the country where you live.
